The ReadyWelder uses 24V - 36V DC (2 or 3 - 12V batteries), It is a spool gun MIG and puts out up to 350 amps with 36V. Used by a lot of off-road guys to do roadside repairs.

Boat guys seem to love that battery powered spoolgun, they say its the cats meow for field repairs, i looked at the idea , then came to my senses and ordered the longevity. Boats of any size already have 2 12v batteries onboard. Deep cycle marine batteries would run those welders a long time.

Your going to get a crappy welds with batteries. I have seen so many of these threads before. Batteries arnt made to release a lot of power over a long period of time. Plus they are not stable.

My brother had a ReadyWelder. He said it worked great, but I never tried it. Crappy welds? Maybe.

They will weld ok especially with flux core but the problem is that they really aren't cv sources.
The military uses them they carry them on some of their vehicles for field repairs.
