    But in a pinch it looks like three batteries does work. There is no control on the current.

    They make a mig welding attachment that you hook up to a few paralleled bsteries and weld. Hobart also just came out with a battery powered mig welder and I believe you can plug that one in as well to weld.

    That was annoying. On a side note there are a few guides on instructables for battery arc welders. A simple solution for doing some welding out in the boondocks.
