Hi Beadboy and welcome to the forum. We like pictures here so be sure to include some showing your work. Also, keep an eye out for the next contest here. The odds of winning a great new Longevity machine are very good. Please post something about yourself in the introduce yourself forum so we can get to know you.
I've heard of Forney welders but don't know anything about them. I'm sure someone here will have some input on them.
Run some beads with your welder and post pictures of them here for critique. You will get good constructive feedback I'm sure.

    Welcome to the forum!
    Lot's of good information here.
The Forney name has a 75 year history in our country.
Among other things, you could run a search on 'Fornaire', for entertainment...
It should be a good welder for you.
    Good luck

thank you rc. I bought my forney for 100 dollars, it looks to be a prety old welder. Some of the pictures I've seen on the internet show that the modle forney i have was made around 1955. i was told it was from the 1950s also. it seems to work fine and welds good. I will post a picture of it soon. thanks jake

    Aha!

With that bit of added info, my guess is it will be an AC buzzbox. and HEAVY!
It's probably quite serviceable, but will require a large breaker because it draws a lot of power for the transformer.
Of course it will weld... but I'd strongly consider one of the new inverter based machines offered by Longevity.
They are lighter, and draw a heck of a lot less power because they are more efficient than the old transformer machines.
You will discover an addition of DC capability to be a great bonus!
    Good luck!

with an ac only welder you can not run e6010 but you can run e6011ac and e7018ac. E6013 is a low penetrating rod commonly nick named farmer rod for its characteristics i would suggest getting some e6011ac and some e7018ac and practicing with those

Welcome from me too Jake. I have found 7014's to be quite easy to work with, and easier to start than 7018's.
