Yeah Chris, I forgot to mention as Gaustin mentions about being comfortable before you start your runs.
If you don't feel comfortable, stop clean out said slag and start again.
When doing your overheads, if you get a slag ball down the neck and into your underpants so it burns your wangers, just suck it up, let out a couple of choice cuss words and carry on.
I use this method a lot.
