That is dry cut technology not a cold saw. The cold saw such as a Dake cold saw does use slower rpm and uses a coolant flow over the part. The Dake cold saw is also around $3000. My Milwaukee is between $400-$600 according to where you find it. The Milwaukee is a great investment. I have made several hundred cuts on different size square tubing and different sizes of solid bar stock. The thing still cuts like it did straight out of the box.

Here is a rage 14" saw. I have the 8" skil saw type and it works great. cuts thru 1/4" plate like cutting hot butter. EVOLUTION RAGE 2 14" MULTIPURPOSE METAL SAW W/ BLADE - eBay (item 390013485302 end time Dec-26-09 12:33:46 PST)

And based on those pictures you can't say they are anywhere near the same. My OP post was to show people what a BIG step up a Cold saw was. Good discussion!

That Evolution Rage really looks good for the price. I may have to spend some Christmas cash.

Bandsaw works the best for me. You can get accurate cuts without heating up the material.

Santa didn't leave me enough for the rage saw, must not have been good enough , but if my cut off saw ever dies that one or one like it will be the replacement.

A band saw would be really nice also. Both have their use. Hate to cut a bunch of 1" tube on a band saw but would not care to cut a 6x6 heavy wall tube on the dry/cut off saw.

They both do gave a place but fir the average fab shop or home owner a horizontal bandsaw is perfect.

I couldn't agree more. I have both band saw and cut off saw. The band saw is my go to tool for precision cutting.

I've got the cheapy HF horiz. band saw, and I have cut a ton of stuff on it. I think I paid $160 as i recall. I see they are listed at $250 now. That and my combo belt/disc sander get the most use at my place. Watch for this saw on sale, and I think everyone would be happy they had one of these.
