    Lost foam casting pattern

I redesigned the fan blade for an 8" blower yesterday. I used Alibre CAD software and will use Vectric Cut3D to create the machine code. The part will be cut out of foam on my CNC table and then cast in aluminum. Hope it turns out ok.

Looking good Gadget. What will you use to cut the foam?

My CNC table Keith. I can convert from plasma to router easily. In fact, I am thinking of trying to cut the bearing surfaces of the spindle slide with the router. I think with light passes and a slow travel speed I can do it.

Da!! I knew that you were going to use the CNC table, I guess I was thinking about the cutter and foam.

Oh, a carbide tipped 3/8" router bit for the roughing and a HSS 1/4" ball end router burr for the finish cut. The foam is the pink or green type used in construction. It machines well and quickly melts out of the way for the aluminum when pouring.
