I tried to engrave rifle barrels with a CNC router but it didn't have the balls. That one has the balls.

i wish i could take credit for the idea. i just imitated what i've seen different people make. i first saw this as an upgrade option from torchmate for only $2,400 lol, and have since seen different versions on various cnc tables. not sure who originally came up with the idea but i think it's only been around for a few years.

LOL. the second video sucks! for some reason it starts skipping and the audio is delayed. oh and while i was adjusting the knob on the scribe i forgot it was gonna switch to plasma so when it did it scared me and i jumped back lol!

i talked to ross about the height control but i would have to switch to mach3 which would almost cost as much and then i'd loose the great support from torchmate. i ordered the height control from torchmate the other day. it was a bit of a bullet to bite but it will pay off soon. this plate marker this is something every plasma table manufacturer should offer and i'm sure they all will in time. i'm sure ross has seen it and it's on his to do list.

this air scribe actually indents the material instead of cutting like a router. i got it used on ebay for 100 bucks.

Mac, I once knew a vintner who was using a cad/cam laser to engrave wine bottles for people... custom labels are the rage, I guess...

His wife was doing promo work for him and she got him hooked up with Weatherby for a test session... I guess it turned out the laser did well engraving upon the actions and he got some sort of contract...

You guys with the CNC set-ups continue to amaze me. It seems there's very little you can't fabricate.

That's 100 dollars well spent. I would use it to mark where to drill and to put logos on custom parts. When you finish a big job, you can scribe the bill into a steel plate and present it to the customer.

    Welcome

Hi jj2k and welcome to the forum. We like pictures here so be sure to include some showing your work. Also, keep an eye out for the next contest here. The odds of winning a great new Longevity machine are very good.
