I cut Mr. Kilroy out of an old computer case today. The trick was welding the very thin material. I did ok, not pretty but it holds. Used a 1/32 tungsten, set the pedal pot on 8 and went at it. I should have thinner filler rod for something like this.

How far off dressing the edges and paint?

I painted Mr. Kilroy and he is proudly hanging on my fence where he will stay (hopefully no one takes him) I have some ideas for more that I can make in production line fashion if there is an interest around the neighborhood.
I wondered what my wife would think of him. As I was hanging him she knocked on the window and pointed to him as she was laughing hysterically. She said make the next one a bit bigger so I guess she likes him.

Short wood screw into the fence plank? I know the scrap vultures grab nearly everything, but that might buy enough time for a car driving by to scare them off.

I have to get a bigger sheet to cut from but will be making a few more. They will be bigger.

If you've got a good junkyard nearby, the sides of white service vans would make for some ridiculously cheap sheet metal

Pretty sure a friend took the whole side off of one for about $10, just rolled it up and set it in the trunk. (wide, and loosely rolled)
