Gathering parts for my CNC plasma/router table

I've been gathering parts for my table and I'm about ready to buy my steppers. My table and gantry will be heavy and I'm making it pretty stout for routing and light milling. I have an idea of putting my router mount on the opposite side of the gantry but not sure if it's feasible. I also want a barrel cutting axis at the end of the table so I think I'll need a 5 axis setup. You guys want to help me pick out what I need?

I would start building the table, get the gantry somewhat mounted or get a good estimate of the weight of the gantry and call either hubbard cnc or keiling, if money is no object gecko..

I'm building my table on the cheap, I went with the import 4 axis kit from hubbardcnc..

The only places i would order from are hubbardcnc, keiling and gecko..

If money were no object and you know the gantry will be heavy I think i would go with 5 axis servos, and they are pricey..I would look towards keiling, get an estimate on your gantry weight and the estimated speeds your wanting and call them..
I think you'll end up with a separate breakout board, individual drivers and servos and a good sized power supply...

Its hard to say without knowing any kind of size or weight..

These are the linear track bearings I have for my gantry to ride on. I picked up 2 of them 10' long with 2 bearing skates (need 2 more) for $17.00 at the scrap yard. Mine are a different brand KHK I believe. I'll go ahead and get the frame & gantry built then start looking for my drives.

I had 4 more of them (shorter) but they were all different sizes and no skates so I took them back to the scrap yard.

Nice looking slides Charley. The trick will be getting them perfectly aligned. You might want to make some adjustment to the frame so you can move them up and down and side to side to make alignment easier. I would use some kind of screw movement on the ends of the frame for that.

Great to see another build being posted the more info posted the better. We can feed off each other so we and other may make an informed decision about their build.

You got a GREAT deal on the track bearings. I built the gantry first and used it to get the linear bearings parallel on the table's base.
