    50i connections

Need help verifying that I have all the connections to the 50i correct! The torch has 3 connections, torch simply goes to the torch connector, 2 pin connector that's easy, the third one looks like a ground and I think it goes to the "pilot arc". Another questions is, do I keep the switch on "constant" or "timed"? All the rest is easy even for a rookie like me. When I hit the trigger is there a delay before it starts cutting or should it fire up immediately? Sorry about all the questions but don't want to mess my toy up. The cutter was set up at 50amps when I turned it on, is that okay?

    Thanks
    Ray

It sounds like you have it hooked up right. I am not sure about "constant" or "timed" If you are seeing a delay when you hit the trigger,r I am guessing that you have it set to timed

This is what it says in the manual - Constant/Timed Switch: This mode allows you to test air pressure and release air through the torch. Selecting Gas (Air) Test, you should have air passing through the torch as long as the compressor is on. Cutting mode allows you to use the plasma cutter normally. The manual also says - 10. You can test the air to insure that it is properly flowing by selecting Gas (Air) Test. Air will pass through the torch.

I'm not really sure if that means Constant is Gas (Air) Test and Timed is Cutting Mode or what, because there are not switches labeled Gas (Air) Test or Cutting Mode.

Thank you to both of you for the help. Manual does have some stuff that my machine does not have. I especially wanted to make sure the torch connections were right. I learned lots of stuff while testing out the 50i. One is I need a steadier hand and a better way to mark the cut. My welding helmet gets too dark while cutting but will figure that out with the adjustments. Two is I ordered some welders pencils/marker on ebay that supposedly does not burn like soapstone. In fact it says that it gets brighter while burning. I also ordered a guide for the torch that rolls while I cut. Of course the 50i is a super machine, it's the operator that needs to know what he is doing! So practice, practice and more practice. I had this left over 8" C purlin from my shop construction that was 6 feet long. That poor thing is in hundreds of pieces now.

    Thank You
    Ray
