Extending the Power Cord to LP-50D

I just wanna make sure that I don't kill myself or burn my house down. The extension cord is really short on my Plasma cutter so I decided I want to extend it. Please someone reply and let me know if I did it correctly.

I used 10-3 wire which had a Green, Black and White. My plasma cutter has Green/Yellow, Blue and Brown. I connected the Green to Green/Yellow, Black to Brown and White to Blue. I then attached the 220 plug. Does it matter what wire gets attached to the narrow blade and the big blade. . . I know ground needs to be attached to ground.

I am having an electrician put in a 220 outlet tomorrow. I bought the outlet and plug so that they would match. Does the outlet need to be wired to match how I wired the plug.

Please show a diagram if possible.

    Respectfully, Kyle

As long as the ground is on the right blade you should be ok.

Here is the basic plug wireing. The wire colors may differ. The green/green yellow is the most important.
The picture is for a cheater cord set up. Your welder is not a dual voltage machine so all plugs and outlets will be the same.
    Hope this helps.
