    That is true for spray you need more argon and less c02.

    My understanding is MIG Aluminum welding requires a flux core wire so I don't think the gas mixture really matters. A bottle of C-25 should be all you need.

    As far as I know there is no suh thing as flux core aluminum wire. I mig aluminum with argon.

    Gas for welding steel.

    CO2 is great for Mig welding steel and as previously mentioned is a lot cheaper than Argon, however if you are doing a lot of continuous runs then CO2 will freeze up a normal gas regulator. If you are doing a lot of CO2 welding then you will need a heated regulator.
    CO2/Argon Mix (Corgon) is a better way to go, as the regulator won't freeze up with extended use.

    Straight Argon can be used for non critical work but the CO2 in the mixed gas is what helps the weld to penetrate.......the CO2 also helps with edge wetting and smoothing out the weld bead. Dave
