    Spool Gun MIG

I have a old spool gun (I think it was made by Systemetics?) that I use for MIG welding Aluminum, StainlessSteel, and plain steel with Flux core wire.
It hooks up to my Thermal Arc, constant voltage welding power source.

For the aluminum and stainless steel MIG welding with the spool gun, I use Argon as a shielding gas.

Pro: I like spool gun because the small spools are less cost, easy to seal up in baggies when not in use, for soft aluminum wire it has perfect feeding (no pushing trouble).
Con: size of spoolgun can be a problem in tight places. Tips are more costly.

    Regards,
    John

TA 270 amp engine drive T-Bird, DC only, CC/CV from the late 90's
Lift start TIG, Stick with arc force, CV suitcase MIG, Spool gun MIG, plus 10,000 watt A/C power.
it's been a great mobile unit.
