Which Welder to get

Hello,

I am new to the site and was thinking about getting a machine. I do alot of 1/4" plate cutting. I weld alot of 1/8" tube and 3/16" steel. I would like to weld 1/4" Aluminum well.

I am considering a multi machine or a welder and plasma.

Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum Pharmd,
If you want to weld aluminum you will need a machine that will do AC.
Any of the multifunction machines that do AC should fit the bill The LS160P or LS160PI should easily handle the materials you have listed.
I suggest you call Jesse or send him a PM, he will be better able to assist you to insure you get the unit you need. I think they are closed for the holiday now though.
Again welcome, I'm sure others will help guide your purchase decision based on the experience with their units.

Do you do hobby welding or fab welding?
For hobby I would recommend the 160P or 200P
For fab welding I would recommend the 160PI or 200PI

How much switching between cutting and TIG welding do you have to do? If it is often only having one unit could be a pain. If you get a good setup for setup for switching between air and Argon it wouldn't be to bad but having two machines would be easier.

Like said before how much are you swithing back and forth and how much money do you have for your toys. I use my longevity for the plasma mostly as of right now and my othe machines for tig just because they are all set up already.
