    thanks! Right now, i am working on a nightmare. Sand plant has me rebuilding a dredge for them... Its a non disclosure thing so i am not allowed to post pics or progress or even what i have to do, just know that for the next 12 weeks, i will be on a dredge in the middle of the arkansas river welding.....in the full sun..... With giant 1/4 inch jet rods...... 11 hours a day....... 6 days per week..... Sometimes i hate being a contract welder....lol....

    That's just the opposite of how I used to feel about jet rod, they were all I had for heat in the winter. I was building dump trailers and the guy I worked for would leave and stay at the coffee shop all day while I froze my a$$ off. After about a week of that I collered him about getting some kind of heater. I was burning 3/16" and I feel for you cause they do get hot.

    i would love for this to be a winter time project and be able to run big jet rods. can run them fast enough to make the whole project a heater...lol.... but it sucks badly during the summer...

    After reading some of these, I realized that I have never done a hard welding job. To date it would be a stainless steel chimney cap, that my dad tossed out and replaced with a mail order one. He was afraid that mine had a slight twist that would crack the three giant flues. I am most proud of my 1965 roadster chassis, which is still in progress, (shown in gallery).

    Based on all the projects I've read about, I haven't even thought about difficult welding jobs. Although, considering my skill level at this point, every job is hard... I'm getting better though and can't wait to get started on the chassis for my car.

    Will its a fast learning curve. I purchased the plans for a 1965 Shelby Cobra. Then I made changes to reduce the work and skill needed. Now that I'm 80% done, I wish I had built the original, and think that I could. Day one the original scared me.
