What was the issue, machine settings or plastic coating?
I will sometimes use steel wool to polish fine things. Take a half a piece of steel wool (fine for polishing, coarse for cleaning), and hold it in your hand. Take an electric drill with say a old 1/4 inch bit and let it wrap around the drill bit being careful not to drill into your palm. Then use the drill bit with steel wool to clean off any coating on the steel. I used to use this method to polish aluminum car parts to make my car faster![]()

It ended up being a grounding issue which is what I was kinda suspecting. Gadget or Stan one suggested "brighting" up the metal a little more than wire brush wheel cleaning at the points I was welding them and at the point of where the ground was to be attached. Worked like a charm. Even though the wire brush wheel cleaned up up really good they still needed just a scratch more for the electrons to flow right I guess.
