    Poor Man's fire extinguisher.

ECU should be easy enough to pull in the S10, pull the battery as well. If you have stereo keys, might be worth unhooking the head unit. The dashes in those pop right out. (Just sold a 2000.)

Stereo keys are tools inserted alongside the factory stereo to remove it. For my Ford I made some out of 10g steel wire. For an S-10 you wouldn't need them, it is held in with screws. If you can't remove the bracket from the seat and the upholstery is close, you can use a wet rag/towel on the steel to prevent heat conduction damage.

Seemed he might try and fix it in the truck. The ECU / stereo bit is more or less one of those things. Easier to do than replace, even if nobody's ever actually fried one. (At least on my end, replacing aftermarket ecus gets pricey. )

Brad was dead on with the keys. Wasn't sure if it was a key or screw headunit. The one I sold was all stock, but profitable.
