i use 1080 cold roll for the pins and DOM tubing for the barrel, drilled and bored for grease alamites (zerks) i make them where the pin drops into the barrel, so that the gate can be lifted off and removed if need be.... the easiest way ive found to get em all lined up n welded is careful measurements, clamps and tacks. once tacked into place, then set the gate and insure proper movements. making adjustments as necessary. the hinges of the giant door that is shown on my website were done in this manner. the pins were 1 inch in diameter and the barrels were 1/2 inch wall. a year later, the door still swings without squeaks and with great ease regardless of the extreme weight
