atleast leave it to the ones that are being paid to take those risks anyway... i found myself in a similar position today, welding aluminum handrail on a 3rd floor in a big plant today. leaning outside the railing, on my knees, and the pedal between my cheek and my shoulder... the tag on my fall protect was tied off to some railing behind me, so i leaned on it to keep my balance... silly welders...
