    Argon tank size

I am expecting my LS 160 P soon and I am wondering what size argon tank I should be getting ( I am brand new to tig) I expect to be doing a LOT of practiceing so I imagine i will be using a fair amount of gas initially.
what size is a good compromize for capacity as well as reasonable to handle when getting it refilled or exchanged. ( am 66 and no longer as strong as i was ( which wasn't too strong to begin with)
    Thanks, Joe

    Joe,
I have an 80 CF tank as I recall. It is about 4 feet high and 8" in diameter. I am 61 and have no problems handling it.

the 80 is a good size I have one and it last a long time. I got mine on ebay from Indy it is brand new and free shipping. I paid 152.00 and my local airgas took it with no problems. mine is 37inch tall and 6.7 round. good luck with your new toy.

Cheaper initially but your refills will eat the savings up. It is just about the same to fill the 80 as it is the 40.

    Re: Argon tank size

I have a tank that stands 5 ft at about 12 in in dia. I thik that it is a 230 cfm tank. It cost $80.00 to fill and because I had it so long I had to pay for high pressure testing. I think that the tank is to big for hoby use.

    bamacpl,
I agree with you, my 80 runs out entirely too fast.

I looked at several different sizes of argon bottles. The 80 was just plain too big for my cart and shop (hobby). A 40# was OK, but the gas runs out fast and part of the filling cost seems to be just a plain old service charge for the fill. So 60# worked for me, although 60's aren't too common.
