    HELP - Need advice

Originally purchased a 160-P - Arrived DOA - exchanged two more times for DOA units. then got one that worked. Shortly after, it fried. Simon let me exchange it for a ForceCut LP-50D, and a Tig 200.

The Tig 200 has worked well and has been used several times on small jobs. Yesterday my ForceCut LP-50D literally exploded the forth time I used it.

I called Simon today and he gave me the option of a replacement ForceCut LP-50D, or exchange both units for a new and improved 160-P. I really would like the ability to weld aluminum but am shy about the 160-P.

Any advice or experience you can share would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: HELP - Need advice

I recived my 160p about a week ago. I had a few problems with the plasma cutter, but after solving the problem the machine has worked great!!! I have cut 3/8 steel plate, cut 1/4 AL, welded steel using the stick, welded SS and AL using the TIG. I have never used a plasma cutter before so there was a learning curve. There was also a learning curve to use all of the functions of the machine. I would recomend the 160P

    Re: HELP - Need advice

I am sorry you have had soo much bad luck but i hope you continue to let simon ' MAKE IT RIGHT" It is his passion...

I got my " New & improved" LS 160P a week ago.. I almost had the plasma cutter hooked up and tried my first cut
it sparked then sputtered then arced then spit spurterered again and then it sort of stopped !

I then realized that i had not re connected the compressor line..after testing it..I was simply " dumber than a stick of wood"
i had to replace the plasma tip.(short lived consumable)....turned on the air ans vio'la " FIRE IN THE HOLE" it is truely a beautiful thing !
Ii have been cuttting most anything i can find and have been cutting circles...writing my name in steel... you name it !
I got my argon tank yesterday and plan on trying the tig this weekend if nothing interferes with my plans.

I'm green as grass about this stuff but Damn.... It is all I had hoped it would be
initial check found one wire had ' left it's post" ( pun intended) the wire had fallen off it spade connector in shipping, i guess.

I wish I could tell you more, but i've only had it a week and I Love it ( learning to weld is on my bucket list)

Recently got my new 160-p in and all I can say about the upgrades is WOW. I was very impressed. I havent had time to do much with it due to being out of town. Sounds like a good deal to me though.

    Re: HELP - Need advice

I got my 160P back when it was only a 1 year warranty. The first unit failed and was promptly replaced. The second was badly damaged in shipping. Simon paid the return shipping, handled the shipping claim and sent the third out. This has been a real gem. It was well worth the slight inconvenience at the start and cannot say enough about the support Longevity has given me. Not only that, when he upgraded the warranty to three years he included my unit in the extended warranty.
I am having so much fun with mine I can't think up projects fast enough. It has never failed me whether it be TIG, stick, or plasma cutting. I have used mine for CNC plasma cutting which can have rather long cuts.
I don't think you can go wrong with the 160P. Stainless, mild steel, aluminum, and I have even welded brass.
