As I'm sure you've heard more than once... Any reason you're not going the Sti route for a drivetrain? We've got at least 1 Legacy and standard Impreza locally with swapped JDM drivelines.

I'm not very deep on Subies, but always interested in seeing someone shoehorn a Lysholm where it wasn't intended.

I've had a few friends run uphill on motor projects, so I understand just how large those bills can grow as time goes by.

IE - Buddy that lost a longblock to hydrolock at a shady shop, then lost another 2-3 months and cash on a "mint" motor that showed up with a hole in the block, then finally gets a new shortblock for $3-4k or so. All this for something that's supposed to "drop in". Even when it's "easy", it's not always easy.

Definitely post up some pictures / ideas. We could always use more threads to ramble on about.
Full hand tool assortment, collecting sheet metal hammers/dollies, more time than money.

Biggest reason is cost, the STi or even base WRX drivetrain here in my area can cost upwards of 10K, then you get into gutting the dash for wiring and it just gets to ugly too fast. Currently my build will be under 4k with a 40% increase in power before tuning on an otherwise stock set up. the car is to remain a daily drive so im not looking to go to crazy. if i can find it a similar car with my set up has a 250 all wheel foot pound torque at just over 2000 rpm and holds well into 5000 rpm. So the torque along is icing on the supercharged cake

Well next weekend i will have the motor back and the break in begins. I should also be getting to the Intake Manifold mods so i maybe bounce around the forum asking for help with welding 6061 to cast 319 aluminum.
also my brother beat me to buying the longevity tig 200 so i will be using that with a 50/50 argon helium mix and 4043 aluminum rod.

At 10k I could drop my current 3L lump, grab a spare, a 6 speed, fuel system, standalone, and rear. o_O

Sub part prices really took off lately.

This has to be one of those "Doing it because I love my car / learning experience" scenarios.

Can't argue with torque. I do miss the low end going from sequential to single.

Was I right about the Lysholm? What unit are you going with?

    Now, make with the pictures.

The M62 should be more than enough to make things entertaining. Easily sourced second hand as well.
