Didn't get around to playing with basket twist anymore today because I'm trying to get the hinges cut out and ready so that when the flat bar gets here (that I've been waiting on all day) I can seal off the top of the door and get the hinges lined up and mounted so I can finish cutting out the door because I made one tiny slip with the plasma yesterday and there is a small gouge in the top of the door seam and I'm trying to keep myself from patching it.
    Woah, take a breath there

i will post some pics of the baskets we just made for a railing project tomorrow..... the "secret" to making the tight baskets is to push in while turning them back out.... we started with 8 inches of stock, heated then twisted 1 full turn, then back off 1/2 turn while pushing in at the same time....

ive never been asked to make em with round stock, you lose the individual twist with round... if you gonna use round, make a die and make 100's of the individual bars n weld em together instead of trying to basket them, would save lots of time and headache

So, are you saying to twist the round individually and then weld them together? I kinda tried that the first time but don't think I was doing it quite right because I couldn't figure out how to get them to match up to look right. This is one of those times I so wish there was someone in this area that had skills like you so I could visit their shop in person and see how to do it firsthand.
