Looking forward to learning some new techniques

I’m George and I’ve made my living for the past 40 years designing, crafting and selling metal sculpture. Anything from small copper butterflies to large sculptures for corporations.

Now I am back where I started in 1967; brazing, cutting and welding for fun. Today I produce metal sculpture instructional videos for those wanting to do metal sculpture for fun and profit.

My videos have primarily focused on using the oxygen acetylene torch. Now I’d like to do some videos on using the mig and plasma cutter.

I have an all blue shop, but haven’t been that satisfied with my Miller plasma cutter which led me to Longevity.

I’ve been looking at the Hypertherm 30X but if I can buy something close to “just as good” for a third of the price that would be preferable.

I got my start stick welding in a fabrication shop welding structural steel. Today I doubt that I would know how to stick weld. I’m spoiled by the Mig. I have a MillerMatic 35 S that I bought in 1973 which I still use.

My torch cutting also leaves something to be desired as I’ve also been spoiled by the plasma machine.

Looking forward to learning from others.

Welcome to the forum George. I look forward to some photos of your work. As for the Longevity plasma cutters, I have the ForceCut 80 and have been extremely pleased with its performance. I use it on my CNC plasma table running long continuous cuts with no problerms.
    Welcome again,

Thanks for the idea related to Simon

Dan, I'll check with Simon shortly.

Right now I am in a little over my head with all I have going on.

Life was suppose to slow down when I retired but it seems that it is only getting busier.

Photos: As of now I'm not that familiar with getting around the forum.

In the meantime here is a link to some of the sculptures I've done.
