    Welcome Steve.

    Welcome to the forum Steve.
There is a mountain of knowledge in this forum and to unlock it, all you have to do is ask.
The guys here are great and you will fit right in.
I want to pick the Stick (Arc) Welder, because you can use it in all types of applications, outside in the wind, cold and wet.
The real talent comes from being able to weld in all positions.
There is more varieties of strength and applications with this machine just by changing the type of rod.
I worked on an oil rig once and they had some little Korean guys welding all the pipe work with stick welders (Stovepipe welding) and I swear the welds looked like a robot had done the welding. They were pretty to watch.

I like the arc too. I fell in love with it welding upside down on a truck with a reverce 6011 fleetwood + on dirty metal few sparks and a beautiful looking weld. My freind says its is only good for "farmers" but I think it is just too easy. thanks
