    Smile Hello from FL

    Hi there,
I am new to welding, but find it fascinating and would love to learn more. I am a computer engineer by trade, but love car and go kart racing. Recently a few peaces had broke on my kart and I got sick of asking other people to weld them for me... Hence bought myself a Hobart Handler 140 MIG. Absolutely love welding, since it's one of those super skills. You can make a lot of things if you know how to.
So lately I have just been fixing stuff like lawn mover or my go kart and trying to find more projects to weld. I hope you'll help with ideas and pointers.

    Cheers,
    Vil

Welcome! What about lawn mowers? You guys race them? We have some fellas around here that do. They soup them up to run at ridiculous speeds... I don't think they are much good for cutting grass when they get finished with them. I'm planning on going to one of their races soon. I will take pics and post. Never in my life have I ever heard of a "performance" lawn mower in the terms these guys are referring too.

    Thanks for the welcome guys.
Performance lawn movers can be very fast (and not too safe for my taste). They can do 80Mph on a dirt track... and the center of gravity is a little scary. Once I was at Sebring race track and kept hearing what was sounding like a baddest a** corvette or some american muscle revving nearby... Finally decided to check it out and to my surprise it was a lawn mover... Now mind you the track was full of Historic race cars (louder than modern ones) going 170Mph and this V twin lawn mover sounded meaner than most of them. Way fun.
