long time gearhead/tinkerer, just starting weldng

well, i haven't actually started coz i've yet to get me a TIG welder.
i'm into fiberglass and general fabrication... i have never touched a TIG welder before and i generally do not use metal for anything. getting and learning to TIG weld will surely open up A LOT of possibilities! bring it on! twothumbsup

Hi Locry and welcome to the forum. We have a lot of very capable people here willing to share their experience with anyone who asks. We'll have you TIGing before you know it. Longevity has a great line of TIG welders and multifunction welders. I suggest looking at the multifunction units myself. You get stick, TIG and plasma cutting in a very affordable package.

    Welcome to the forums.
Having the ability to use any material in fabrication is invaluable. I at first didn't think I would use tig much it has been a great tool in the shop.

The control you get with TIG is great. Mig is easier to just tack stuff together.

thanks for the welcome guys!!! cheersicon
can't wait to get started! what machine do you guys recommend? plasma cutting as an added feature would be great... but it'll all depend on how much the machine costs.
btw, i live all the way in the Philippines, i hope i can work something out as far as shipping is concerned...
i'm just in the researching stage, and i'm trying (in vain ) to list down ALL the projects i want to tackle... it seems i want to build every product i come in contact with... HAHAHAHAHA.cursingicon an impossibly loooong listSurrendericon
reminds me of the time when i discovered fiberglass... it's starting all over again... WIPs WIPs and more WIPs... hahahahahahaha

oh yeah, my first project would probably be auto body work, i have a 68 MB 250s i want to "restore"... (floorboards are falling apart...hahaha...) so i can once and for all move it out of the smallish garage to make room for future projects.
