Howdy all... DzrtRat67 (desert rat) or Joe here. Thought I'd get first post out of the way. Plan on buying one of the multipurpose machines in the next couple of weeks....still trying to figure out if I can get away with the low end one for my hobbiest/light repair skill level, or if I should pony up for a 160 or better to have more options/control. I'd love a 160, but that extra $1000 is a little hard to swallow, especially not knowing if I'll ever really need to do much aluminum.
As a side note, in looking at the projects thread, it seems there are very few photos displaying, even though the chatter indicates I should be seeing some pix. Am I the only one?

    Thanks!
    Joe

Hi Joe and welcome to the forum. We were hacked recently and everything on the servers deleted. The developers restored this older version of the forum but didn't get all (or many of) the photos. They are hard at work to get back to the newer version of the forum and hopefully restore the images. So, it's not you it's the forum.

Welcome aboard Desert Rat, AKA Joe. I'm just a weekend warrior, and made the mistake once of purchasing a 185 Ampere machine. I won't do it again, the magic number for me is 225 Amperes, with 250 being what I really want. I have used a 135 Amp machine, and it did the job for steel, but I'm going to pretend it never happend. It seems that you always get the job done with the tool you know, while you wish you had another.
