Hello, new to the site ... and new to the fabrication world. Looking the buy a plasma cutter. Can't decide which one to get though. I will take advice.

My project is an 62 vette. It will be a mixture of stock and hot rod. I'm currently at the beginning of put in back together phase. I'm using a stock frame but making modifications - independent front suspension, triangulated 4 link rear suspension. Need to make modifications to the frame to accommodate the transmission/engine - I think cutting with a plasma cutter would make the job go a lot quicker and cleaner.

Hi LSC1vette and welcome to the forum. We like pictures here so be sure to include some showing your work. Also, check out for the contest here. The odds of winning a great new Longevity machine are very good.

They are all good and will all cut through frame material easily. However, I always take the mindset get the biggest you can afford. Much better to have more than you need than not enough power.
Where are you in Michigan, you might be close enough to me to drop by and try the LP80 I have.

Hi Gadget, I'm in Battle Creek. I thought I did upload a couple of photos, but I don't think it worked. Do you add photos through Manage Attachements ? (which I did again)

LSC what year is that? I'm guessing 58 to 60. They sure looked classy back then.
You are only 13 miles from me (Marshall), if you want to come over to give the LP80 a test spin let me know.

Hi Gadget, the year is 62. I would love to come over and test drive your plasma cutter. I'm thinking of purchasing one before the end of the year ... if you could squeeze me in your schedule sometime before then that would be great. Thanks.

    Lsc1vette:
Welcome from me too. - -Nice car. - - - and Keith - you've been holding out on us. An '84 eh? They are all nice. The new ones don't appeal to me much though. They go like stink, and are good value for dollar, but to my old eye they aren't very pretty. - - maybe I'm just getting too old.
    Cheers,
