Old Salt -- Junk Man Bob

Greeting from a new joiner. Didn't know you existed until I bought a 3-in-1 plasma/tig/stick machine a week ago. (Accurate Tool 518 machine) Had to look for manual on the 'net and came across this group. Congratulations on a job well done (Bravo Zulu to you Navy nerds). I have a couple lathes, several drill presses including an old Camelback acquired from Mooney ACFT Co.), Old Lincoln SA200, and lots of good stuff. I just enjoy making things. Borrowed a friends Miller plasma cutter and got hooked. I have never TIG welded but have been welding for a good number of years -gas and stick. Oh, forgot, have a small MIG machine too.

One of the things I love is building my own tools. I know I am not unique in this trait.

Rebuilt an old Champ forklift that had the misfortune of taking a swim in the Pedernales River. Got it for a song at a junk yard where I used to do trading before it was forced out of business by the EPA. So much for recycling blarney.

Retired Navy as CWO and was also a chief petty officer. Many Sea Stories. You know, the ones that are differentiated from fairy tails-- A fairy tail starts "Once upon a time--" and a sea story starts "Now this is no @#$%@#$%@#$%@#$%--"

    Smile Yup

An 'Old Salt' is a sailor who has been at sea on a number of ships-boats-and other 'floating vessels.

Bob, welcome and I bet you definitely have some stories. Got some years and experience as a CWO for sure. What was your rate prior to becoming CWO? Two of my biggest mentors in my Battalion are CWOs; great guys.
I can't finish a project before I start a new one...an addiction to say the least

    Currently own: Hobart Handler 140
Looking to purchase Longevity MIG and TIG after I get back from this deployment
