    Hello there!

    Hi everyone
I am a newbie on the forum and also to welding. So new to welding in fact, that I have no equipment, knowledge and just about one weeks experience going back to 1976.
    So why am I here?
Well, I want to find out some info to help me try and make an informed choice as to starting off with hobby welding. This is because I recently busted something that needed welding, was able to get my neighbour to fix it, then promptly busted it again. He fixed it again but admitted it was not a great job first or second time. No reflection on him of course, at least he was willing to help. But that started me thinking that maybe I need to look at this as a hobby/project.
As I live very close to Sylvan Lake, Alberta, I got to thinking a Longevity piece of equipment might be in order, or not, as the case maybe. Perhaps even their lower end equipment might be too much machine for a beginner.

Anyway thats more of a "why I am here" rather than a who I am. Oh well.
    Cheers!

    Bex

Hi Bex and welcome to the forum. We like pictures here so be sure to include some showing your work. Also, keep an eye out for the next contest here. The odds of winning a great new Longevity machine are very good.
There is a Longevity dealer in Canada but I don't know if he is close to you or not. In any case the Longevity welders are top notch, I hope you find the one that best suits you.

Thanks for the welcome, I guess I will move over to the search function to start off. Then ask the stupid questions that have not yet been asked!
Looking at the Canadian site I know there is a dealer in my Town, Sylvan Lake, so I might go take a wander to see him.

I recently bought a 1976 Airstream Argosy (thats a painted aluminium trailer) and I am in the process of renovating it. Some of the cross members on the chassis are in need of replacement. So I guess thats the first major task I will be attempting when I have actually bought something and learned a little about how to use it.
