Just want to bring this back up since it has such good info. Also, I believe it may have been on Youtube but not sure but there are some EXCELLENT videos of both sparay transfer and globular on the web. Close up and in slow motion too. You can get mesmerized by watching the magnified view of the molten balls of steel being shot into the weld pool. Impressive camera work on the ones I watched a couple years ago. I'll have to try to find them and maybe post a link.

Portaband
20T press
wire wise for spray or short circuit you are going to use the same amount of wire for the amount of wire deposited in the weldment
as far as nozzles spray is harder on them due to the extreme heat
globular doesnt really get used due to its issues (splatter for ex)

I have MIG welded one time amd it was easy, but someone else set up the machine.
I have a 160D and was tring to weld.
The wire would not feed to the torch, I had to push it in by hand. Is there a trick to doing this?
Wire size .030 FLUX CORE
Here is the set up that worked the best for me;
Work clamp -
Electrode +
Voltage dial=6, 20.5 volts
Arc force dial=5
Wire feed dial=4,-060
I know that the flux core wire makes a lot of splatter.
Any help or comments are welcome!
