What's the going rate for C-25 mix?

I had a small 20cf tank that I was using for Argon but after upgrading to a larger tank for Argon the 20cf has just been sitting around empty for months. I hardly ever use gas shielding for MiG as I use the flux core wire mostly, but I had the tank sitting around empty so I decided to go get it filled with C-25 and it was $40. I couldn't believe it, the same tank filled with Argon the last time was around $25. Does $40 sound about right to you guys?

I know you do a lot of welding and you’re probably in real good with the guys at your local LWS but if you're filling 300cf tanks for $27 I definitely got screwed on the $40 for a small 20cf tank. I've always liked the local LWS that I use but this last time the price just seemed way out of the ballpark.

Costs me around $40 for an 80CF tank of argon around here. I tried to upgrade to a larger tank but they wouldn't allow it, just purchase another tank they said. They also only have up to 125CF. Kind of a crappy LWS. They even told me they didn't have electrodes for the Chinese machines (there's no difference so what they had would have worked, they were just being jerks)

I expect to pay a premium for what you get when swapping out the small tanks, but what I was surprised by was that it was more expensive for the mix than just Argon. I guess maybe it takes more work to do the mix but I figured since CO2 is so cheap it would bring down the cost of the Argon/CO2 mix but instead it was more. I've never had a need to get the C-25 mix because I hardly ever need it and when I do I go to a friends shop and he's never asked to get reimbursed for the gas so I didn't know what to expect. I think its time to buy another 120cf tank because I'd like to start doing more GMAW as the flux core splatters all over everything and requires so much clean up.

if youre getting too much spatter on fcaw, try switching your polarity over to dcen for fcaw.... (its kinda sposed to be that way anyway)

I've always felt like I got a fair shake from my LWS, until now. I don't go in enough or buy enough to really get to know them but I'm not a stranger also, so I don't know what the deal is. I will definitely be calling around the next time I need to fill a tank.
