i've used several welders to install numerous cages over the span of about 20yrs, not one had a 25ft lead.. the longest lead i've had on a welder was a miller252 w/15ft lead.. i hated the gun on the 252 it was huge and heavy. it was huge compared to the gun on my 180c...

what does the longer lead do to amperage carried through the gun and lead? seems like you would have some loss..

you wont lose amperage over length, but you do drop voltage... voltage affects arc length or arc length affects voltage depending on if you are using constant current or constant voltage machines... i may be wrong, but the only mig gun ive seen EVER that is over 15 ft has been push pull.

i completely understand about a spoolgun being too bulky, its why i have 2 50ft push pull feeders and guns for aluminum. ive built my share of roll cages (lottsa dirt tracks here in redneckville) i tig those. i have 600 ft of leads on my pro300 engine drive, using a quick connect (dinse) and a torch with a valve and lift start, i just tig all the joints...... beats the heck outta havin to drag a mig gun all over and worryin about kinking, cold lap and other common problems associated with mig.

Talk to Simon. I'm sure he can source it for you. Or with a quick google you can find several sources online. They are really not hard to find, pretty much every major gun manufacturer offers them. They don't recomend them for smaller wire though, so be aware of that.
