Junes do you do production welding or maintenance welding. I guess I should be specific that only one company I work with uses people to do production welding. I'm sure others have some maintenance people who can weld.

The company that does production welding and uses real people to do the welding makes trench shoring equipment. All stick welded on thick material. I think it would be difficult to automate their process. You can't help but be impressed at welds that are 12 feet long and look that consistent. Of course some of the guys have been working there 20 years.

Cool Junes. I was talking to my sister in-laws boyfriend and discovered he worked as a welder at one of the factories I thought was all robotics. He said often times the robots could not weld good enough to pass inspection. That is good to know that the human touch is still needed.

The bad news is that factory is moving to another state and all the employees will be out of work. I think it has to do with they have been here ten years and have to start paying their taxes. So every ten years they move to another state that will give them a ten year tax break.
