NEW Longevity Pilot Arc Plasma Cutters

    Hi Guys,

Just updating those who inquired about Pilot Arc starting technology with stand alone plasma cutters. We currently have the Longevity Pilot Arc Plasma Cutters in 40 and 50amps with the Pilot Arc which include the torch guides. The specifications are the same as the HF plasma cutters, but the torches, consumable life, and cut quality are much better with the Pilot Arc machines. If you guys are interested, please take a look at the link and pics in the picture. Special longevity forum web prices are available. 5 Year warranty on the units and 30 day risk free trial for all orders. We look forward to hearing from you.

Re: NEW Longevity Pilot Arc Plasma Cutters

Does this torch use the same consumables as the non pilot 60 amp torch? What causes the consumables to last longer?

    Thanks.

Re: NEW Longevity Pilot Arc Plasma Cutters

Thank you for the question. The pilot arc consumables actually last longer because there is no slag kickback on the torch since it is easier to start an arc at a distance. In addition, the electrode is much thicker so the consumables will last longer.

The 60amp consumables are much better than the 40/50 amp consumables. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I can't imagine anybody being steady enough to hand-guide a plasma cutter. I know that setting up guides is an important first step, but I want to weld tubes and those guides are harder to figure out.

If I turn down the current, the arc goes out. If I turn down the air pressure, that helps a bit, but I'm then afraid that my consumable habit is going to get pricey.

If I had a high-frequency start, then at least I wouldn't have to wait until my post gas stopped, in order to re-start the arc.

Miller claims that one can put the torch directly onto the material being cut, if using under 40 amps. That might help a bit, but I still feel as if I'm an order of magnitude away from having a cutter that I can control.

    What am I missing?

    Hi DanP,
I don't think you will get away form having to wait for the post gas to stop before restarting the torch. At least the one I have you still have to wait a minimum of 3 sec before you can restart. Check that point with Simon. As I have been having trouble with my plasma torch and maybe I am wrong.

I get a 404 error when I try to look at the product info.

In fact I get a 404 error when I got to any product details site.

    http://www.longevity-inc.com/product_details.php?id=80

It doesn't matter what the id number is because the browser can't find the product_details.php file.

I would really lean on your web developer if you are out sourcing the site work. If you are doing it in house I would consider hiring a temp to fix the broken links. The site looks great but the substance isn't there because of the broken links.
