    Plasma Cutter Cutting Aluminum

    Hi All,

With our WeldAll 200PI, we were able to do a 1/2" of aluminum on AC mode. Check out the youtube video and the pictures in this thread. We only had 1/2" aluminum max thickness but we are betting we can push the machine to at least cutting 5/8" of aluminum.

Check out our videos and the attached pictures

I'm confused you list the Weldmax machines as being able to cut Aluminum but they don't have AC capability. I'm aware of the need for AC when welding Aluminum but I didn't think it was needed when cutting?

It's an option not a requirement. Simon indicated to me that he found that AC cutting of aluminum seems to be quite impressive.

Wow, quick response. So does it make a better cut (cleaner) with AC or just deeper?

I haven't tried it yet but Simon said deeper cuts were apparently possible with the AC on.

Cool, I didn't even know AC was an option for cutting Aluminum.

I wasn't aware that AC was an option for cutting either. Hopefully Simon will update with some more info. From what I can tell, isn't it standard for plasma cutters (Miller, Hypertherm) to just be DC power?

    Hi Guys,

We did some testing on AC cutting aluminum with the 200PI and the results of the cut were not only cleaner but we were able to cut thicker aluminum.

Our testing team is still working on trying out different methods.

Knowledge is GOLDEN!! I am glad for the information. I think that it will take quite some time to find ALL of the options of this machine.
