    automatic oiler

If you had the cutter hooked up to an air line with a automatic lubricator would the water trap catch the oil.

Tough call there. Oil can exist in the air stream as a fine mist and flow through a water trap. It can also flow along the surface of the trap and lines as a film. Once any oil contacts a hot tip it's going to turn into carbon deposits and crud.

If you are not getting any deposits I would question the worth of your oiler

I would remove the oiler from the cutter's supply line. Oilers are normaly used on equipment that has a consistant CFM draw. Air tools all have different CFM usage at different PSI.

the answer is NO. It will only trap LARGE particles of water, and oil is lighter than water and oil vapor mixed with water WILL go down the line, and it sticks to the walls of the lines and continues for a LONG time even after you correct the cause.

Please trust me on this. I have designed air and hydraulic systems for some time.

I dont think you want the oiler hooked up on the plasma. Same with any air painting. You can get small water filters , dont think its the same as a dryer.
