This info, and the stuff about brake cleaner (Brake cleaner and welding safety issue - Practical Machinist - Largest Manufacturing Technology Forum on the Web , http://www.brewracingframes.com/id75.htm ) should be a sticky on all welding sites. I love to work stainless, but will go with the power hack saw next time.

    Thanks SIC,

    Iggy

except for the fact that you could endanger those that are downwind. really should look at an air purification filter on a downdraft table designed to handle metal fume... out at my shop in the swamp, the next closest person is just out of rifle shot range, so it doesnt matter too much for me

Most likely by the time its hits outside air the ppm ratio will be low enough for a home shop unless you are venting into your neighbors window LOL

true..... good point.... i do know that at the sign shop, when SS jobs came in, i had to wear a meter dilly on my shirt and when it lit up, i had to quit welding.... even with downdraft tables.... i LOVED thos jobs, cause i didnt even have to ask for a smoke break, just leaned in close and let that meter catch hell
