I'm working on a motorcycle weather vane. This is the first test of the design that I cut on my home made CNC plasma table. This is almost 18" long. It looks like there is too much detail, I'll have to clean it up some and give it another try. Not bad for the first test though.

Looks like maybe to much heat for the thickness.
Looks like what happens when I use those computer case sides.
I really have to dial the heat down and speed it a bit to get the results I want.
Cool cut out though and good idea for a weather vain...

This was a test cutout on thin painted sheet steel. The finished cutout will be with thicker material. I probably could have cut down on the heat since the material was so thin. I reduced some of the detail in the wheels and motor area and will do another test cut today. I may still fine tune it more to try and bring out the engine a bit.

I took some of the detail out of the wheels but inadvertently skipped some of the spoke cuts but no big deal. It's still a test. Turned the amperage down considerably and got a nice small kerf.
Used the S45 torch that I modified as a straight torch for machine cutting. Worked very well.

I have only made the one weather vane and am interested in how others do theirs.
