    40D vs 40i.. Am I understanding correctly?

    I have been looking into plasma for some time.

    Is my understanding correct about the product difference between ForceCut40D and ForceCut40i?

    40D = MOSFET
    40i = IGBT

    When looking at the Plasma Cutter products summary section, the far left of the product comparison bar shows "IGBT Technology" which spans all of the plasma products. Does this indicate x0d's and x0i's all use IGBT?

    What benefit(s) does IGBT yield? Longer life? Better performance?

    TIA.

    Thanks for the responses all. After years of debate, research and reading reviews for the best "bang for the buck" reliable plasma cutter rig, i think i really like the ForceCut 40i. I have had the kitchen pass for a couple weeks, but still cant bring myself to pull the trigger. Too apprehensive.

    Anyone else out there own the ForceCut 40i? How do you like it? Are there consumables readily available? Are there universal consumables or consumables of other brands that fit this machine?

    Are there common problems?

    Thanks!

    I have a 40i, it works fine, I wish I would have got a 50i, as I find the 40i lacking power..

    you can purchase tips and electrodes from harbor freight, and also I think the lincoln ln25 uses the same consumables although they cost more because of the name..
