    OOoops

While working on some pieces in a vice, I was using my left forearm as a rest for my welding hand. Forearm was leaning on the vice just under the working area.

I may need an even larger view helmet as I didn't notice I was on fire until it got through the jacket

After laughing at myself for the stoopidity I used gaffer tape to cover the hole and continued making a mess.

Now the woman is gonna make me take sewing classes with her so I can fix all my damaged clothing.

The moral of all this is not to set yourself on fire if there is a woman that can find out about it.

My helper is a Vegan and a PETA person. She would set me on fire, instead.

Actually, I guess I could use my sewing class to put some leather bits on my sleeves. I need to cover that hole, anyway. I'll just have to dye the leather to a non animal color so she don't get suspicious.

And I could come up with some kind of removable guide rest for the vice as I do much is my shop work on it. An excuse to weld some more!

See? There are silver linings (well, maybe aluminum ones) if you just look for them.

I'd be inclined to ask her whose life she values more: yours or the cow's? The ironic thing is that, by virtue of her existance, she uses animal products (either directly or indirectly) every day whether she wants to acknowledge that fact or not. (I think most PETA types are in a state of self-induced denial... like a kid covering her ears and chanting "la la la la la" so she cannot hear things she doesn't want to hear.)

But if you really can't use leather, then you could opt for Nomex. But it will be a lot more expensive and it still won't prevent burn-through from hot spatter. It just won't catch on fire.

LOL We went into the store last week during an "Open House" to sign up for *ONE* small class and somehow I wound up in 4 other classes with her.

She kept mentioning 'together time' a lot.

I turned to her while I was paying $250 for all this and told her, "You know..yer getting uglier by the minute." I couldn't help myself.. I kept thinking of Bill Engval while I was being dragged through hostile female territory.

This drew some cheers and jeers from the group of folks that were waiting behind us while we were picking out my stints in Purgatory. Getting the Evil Eye from the wimmin' folk and looks of commiseration from the few guys that were also being browbeaten into getting in touch with their "feminine side" .

I then threatened to hang a toolbelt on her and make her come over to the my side of the fence. She said, "Great! There's a Lowe's next door and we're gonna remodel the bathroom!"

Some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed.
