I have seen a lot of this in those welding stores and they seem to be pretty okay, as demonstrated by some videos on playback. I would still prefer to go with jackets though, even though the added weight is at times a burden.
Though I would probably give this a try the next time I drop by. Thanks for sharing anyway.

The number one cause of skin cancer is "sunburn" or in our case skin burn from welding. If you do it for years, you can bet you will get skin cancer. ALWAYS wear tight weave cotton or leather with long sleeves. Having skin cancer removed is not fun nor is it pretty. That is the number one reason they make full face helmets for welders...Take it from me, use skin protection and I don't mean that cream stuff that comes out of a tube....
