Metal is for men and wood is for wussies!!!!
If you try the Coke cans make sure you clean the laquer off the inside and outside and poke holes in the bottoms of the cans and I usuallypoke holes in the side of them too just one or two holes on each with a nail is fine. Have fun and use a 1/16 wire or .030 aluminum mig wire works good for this.
junes, I have to ask why do you need holes in the cans? I don't know...... Does pressure build up in the cans? Just curious.

No luck with the beer can - but I am getting better with 20ga body metal, so that's an improvement. - - No way I'm going to show you guys the results till I get at least a little bit better (I do have my pride you know!!). If I didn't have my MIG to fall back on the learning would happen quicker. - I just always seem to be in a hurry. It's the same old story - you have to be smarter than the machine your'e operating.
And by the way, without the tips I collect from all you on the forum, I'd be in a lot deeper hole. - thanks.
