I AM F.A.A CERTIFIED ON S.S & TITANIUM PLATE WELDING ETC.... AND HAVE BEEN WELDING FOR A CRYOGENICS COMPANY OUT OF MOBILE FOR ABOUT THE LAST 2 YEARS, ALL SS, TIG HIGH PRESSURE TANKS BUT NO PIPE. I AM SURE IF SOMEONE COULD TELL ME HOW TO SET MY PURGE AN SET MY MACHINE FOR PIPE WELDING THAT I COULD DO IT, BUT I HAVE USED A FOOT PEDAL FOR MOST OF MY TIG WELDING SO I COULD BE WRONG, BUT IF ANYONE IS NEAR PENSACOLA FL, OR MOBILE,AL THAT KNOWS HOW TO PIPE WELD AN IS WILLING TO TEACH ME I AM WILLING TO PAY. I DON"T THINK IT WILL TAKE A LOT OFF TIME ONCE I SEE SOMEONE DO IT I THINK I WILL BE ABLE TO CATCH ON I KNOW HOW TO STICK WELD AND MIG FLUX CORE IF THERE ARE ANY INSTRUCTORS OUT THERE THAT CAN RECOMMEND ANY PIPE COURSES I WILL DO THAT AS WELL THANK YOU

Sorry but I an too far north. If you have ever put a root in Carbon pipe,, then SS will be no problem. The purge setup is somewhat of a hassle but can be worked through.

    Things to remember

1 Stainless stays hot longer than carbon, the puddle will sag easier. Keep the couplon cool.

2 Set your heat before you tack, adjust it as you like on each tack if you have too.

3 If you see a little spot swirling on you puddle whan you are putting the root inb, you are probably doing a good job, leave the wire in and keep on going.

    4) If you see a line from the outside of your root that looks like a creas through the centerline, you broke the walls down well.

    5) The second pass over the root CAN change the root. Keep the purge on and dont stay in one place too long.

If you were in North Mississippi, I could help you out.
