Tig Gas 101, What is the best gas to use?

Thanks for the quick reply. Well drats. I'll head back tomorrow and switch it out. It kind of burns my shorts that their TIG expert steered me wrong. I did pick up some 1/8 6013 while there too. I ordered stainless rod and steel rod which I can't remember off the top of my head what they are. They're out in the sop at the moment. I've got 220 but I have to install another plug for the welder before I fire it up. I've been reading on the web non-stop and following suggestions from weldingtipsandtricks.com. I see there now where he says not to TIG w/ CO2 but the darn web was down Friday here. I didn't get any aluminum rod because the TigWeld 200 is DC only.

Could I suggest you at least try the mixed gas on a few small scraps so you will know how it performs?

There is little superior to first hand experience... IMO.

You can STILL return the bottle and tell them, 'THIS is just not gonna work for me.' ...Following at least a brief test.

I took the argon/CO2 mix back and they exchanged it with no problem. In fact they upgraded me from a 50 cubic foot bottle to an 80 cubic foot bottle. That was nice of them I thought.

Is argon/helium mix a better gas mixture for tig welding,or is it just for a hotter more penetrating type of weld?I know it is probably a more expensive mix.
