Wow, now I know what I'm suppose to be trying for....... could we get a low level or not perpendicular view of the welds?

Great looking welds! If you don't mind me asking what were your settings on the aluminum?

i have no idea what the settings are as far as amperage goes, i peg the machine wide open and run off the pedal. the ac freq is about 80% open and the balance is about 10% from off...... note, the actual reading on the face of the machine is not what i based it off from, just the dial itself. 3/32 tungsten grey band, long sharp cone and point on the tungsten 3/32 er-5356 filler #10 cup with large gas lens. about 12 to 15 cfh gas flow....

Thanks for the info. I am taking a little longer to catch on to tig aluminum. You don't really see it melt like steel does; still seems to throw me off a bit.

I wish mine looked even close to that. Every now and then I get "lucky" but most of the time I find myself going back over my welds I do with filler rod a second time without filler rod to clean em up. I haven't welded on anything that mattered. Just practice coupons. I still haven't gotten the hang of joining aluminum in a fillet weld. Can do decent on a flat butt weld but those 90 degree welds give me hell.
