So just to clarify ( I was the 1 with issues in comprehension during school) Does this mean the knob is still in control as to the percentage of max amperage below the max set on the panel? ie, if the pedals knob is turned halfway up or to 5 (mine has no markings) and the max on the panel was set to 85amp prior to plugging in the pedal, would I get 42 amps at wide open on the pedal then?

We will probably not have knobs on the pedals anymore as they are not as affective. With your machine, when the power is on, set the amps on the machine, plug the pedal in and whatever you set the maximum amps to before plugging the pedal in is where the limit will be.

Do the numbers on the readout while the pedal is plugged in (not necessarily engaged), mean anything? How about once the pedal is being engaged, do they represent real settings? Btw I think I have read the manual a few times over but sometimes am still confused. I also read about a set up video but have never been able to find that either.

OK so I just spoke to Simon (very patient, helpful and polite) just in case there are others who seek more clarification. The knob on the front of the machine has no effect if you are using the pedal. The knob on the pedal does have an effect but only if you unplug the pedal first (doesnt matter if the machine is on or not), set the dial to whatever you desire, then plug it back in. At that point you will have the setting on the pedal when plugged in, if you change the dial while the pedal is plugged in it will stay where it was set when plugged in. The readout is apparently not valid and if you want 80amps from your 160amp machine you would set the dial (on the pedal) at half way? I know that when using the knob on the panel it is very sensitive. If that is the case with the pot on the pedal then I am probably not even accurate to within 10-20 amps (I am not sure you need that kind of accuracy, just an observation) and with no visual verification. Now during writing this, if the new pedals dont have a pot/dial then the Base Curr on the machine front would be responsible for all settings and it would be visible on the readout? If that is the case, will the new pedal work with my 160pi? Can I bypass the dial on the pedal and depend only on the panels controls?
