    Rusty,
IGBT is insulated gate BiPolar transistor and MOSFET is metal oxide shield field effect transistor. I know that doesn't tell you what you probably want to know though. IGBT is newer technology and is more robust making it better for high usage or commercial use. Both work well but I think over the long haul, IGBT will perform better.
Hopefully that's the info you were looking for.

    Tnx Gadget.

I just ran a google on IGBT vs Mosfet and found the Dodge presentation, (w/Hess), based on the Shanghai paper presented in 2003.

PT IGBT, at that time, was promising, and looking to replace Mosfet in many instances, and was less expensive to produce.
Performance was comparable in most circumstances, except the highest switching frequencies. Development has improved significantly since that time.

Hope that's informative, for anyone interested.
