Does anyone have advice on purging they would share with the group ?
I looked at a purge chamber, but won't be able to buy one, but perhaps I could make one???
Any ideas?
Tnx

what are your needs and why do you need a purging chamber? are you welding magnesium or titanium? (which btw, titanium needs a vacuum chamber instead of a plain old purge) a fairly airtight box, gloves built in, a door with a seal and a window to see inside.... purge ports and a air conditioner vacuum pump.... simple...

Ummm, if one finger won't do the job try two?
I had to look that one up..... so when welding corrosion resistant materials it's best to somehow make a no/low O2 environment........ basically anything that's not mild steel or aluminum?
I had only heard that reference to welding gas tanks as to flood out any of the explosive vapors.

ME, have a look over at CKWorldwide to see the purge chamber they offer.
First they vacuum it, then they pump in the argon. It's got gloves like an abrasive blasting cabinet... and zippers!

Wow, looks cool. I guess one would take care to avoid splatter with a rig like that. I'm not finding any pricing on line either......... can't imagine it's cheap.

ME, I'm reluctant to post info on other manufacturers out of respect for Longevity, who's house I'm at.
If you saw the chamber, you should be able to track down the info on it...
I did post it for info purposes, because it could promote superior workmanship.

Hmm, is that something we have to worry about here?
The title is Free Welding Forum - presented by Longevity
And while Longevity hosts this forum in part or whole to promote their products, if we as consumers of the forum have to restrict legitimate discussions about other manufacturers then I personally don't feel that the forum will ever grow up into a well rounded source of information and community.
Thoughts?
